Castine Variety started out as a drug store and lunch counter
around 1920. From 1920 to present there has only been 6
owners. Present owners, Ernie, Janis, Erik, Katie Fitch.
have operated Castine Variety for almost 12 years. The Ice
cream counter is the original one from 1920 and is availble
to come in and sit down for coffee or a bite to eat, or
bring the family in to enjoy ice cream or pizza. The Variety
store has some of everything: Newspapers and magazines,
movie rental, mega-bucks, film, milk and soda, hand dipped
ice cream, breakfast, daily lunch specials, pizza to go,
lobster and crab rolls during spring and summer. Castine
Variety is open every day of the year from 5 am to 7 pm
and until 10 pm during the summer.
